The Ricci Challenge

Okay.  The fact is that this idea started out as a freak accident.  To keep his costs down Nino asked his web designer if she could apply some sort of web price trimmer to his home page  and she heard him say weekly prize winner.  And thus the Ricci Challenge was born.  So, coming soon, you’ll have a chance to win coffee mugs bearing Toronto-area high school crests, pen sets in faux wood from former East Bloc universities, signed copies of remaindered stock, and other items littering Nino’s closet by competing in challenges that will test both your intelligence and your patience. Stay tuned to these pages for the first Ricci Challenge.  Or better yet, sign onto Nino’s mailing list at the bottom of this page.*

*Administrator’s Note: If you’re thinking the Ricci Challenge is just a cheap ploy to get people to sign onto Nino’s mailing list, you’re only partly right. The frightening truth is that those pen sets and coffee mugs actually exist, and that Ricci fully intends to unload them on the unsuspecting public.

Now that I’m seeing a groundswell of interest–okay, maybe not exactly a groundswell–I’ll see about getting this up and running soon. I’m gathering together my desk set collection as I speak.

  4. I love freebies. Who doesn’t? Those faux wood pen sets sound AMAZING. So please start the contests soon, Nino!

I was just exploring after reading the Open Letter to Stephen Harper, but I too will be back! This is my kind of website. I only wish I had seen it earlier–there is a wealth of ideas I could share with my students.
    Thanks,
    Aj

  6. Alright, I’ll fall for it. Particularly because I happen to collect Eastern Bloc pens. I have yet to fine one set in faux wood!

Great article in the Globe this week about Nicaragua. We are currently traveling the world with the kids, and south/central America is on the itinerary. We’re in Fes, Morocco right now, and I read the Globe & Mail and the Edmonton Journal to fight the homesickness.

    The new website is great!

    Hope all is well,
    Stephanie

Nino Ricci is one of my favourite writers. I never win at things like this (I suspect most of them are cheap scams of some sort) but I want to support Canadian talent.

    • Nino Ricci says:

It’s a low blow to call this scam cheap, Peter, but I guess I had it coming. In this case it’s so cheap, I have yet to give out any prizes. Or hold any challenges, for that matter. Somehow I just haven’t got around to it. Which is not surprising, since the whole idea was an accident in the first place (see above).

In any event, thanks for the support, Peter. If I ever do hold any challenges, you’d probably be wise to steer clear of them.

      best,

      Nino

    I’ll be back!

    Cheers,
